Merge and Center button is not working, missing, greyed out in Excel

The Center Beyond Columns toolbar push is no longer visible in Microsoft Excel. It has been replaced by Merge and Center that offers the same functionality. As the proper name suggests, it lets users center information contained in a single cell or across a range of cells but sometimes the push button may fail to appear under the ribbon menu. Merge and Center push is missing

There are two possibilities when the Merge and Center button is missing, greyed out or non working in Excel. Get-go, your worksheet is protected. Second, the Workbook is shared. Select cells to exist centered.
Right-click and choose the Format Cells choice.
Select the Alignment tab.

Hit the OK button.

The higher up workaround will let users center information contained in a single cell across a range of cells.

Open up the Excel file y'all would like to edit.

Next, select the range of cells over which you would like to center text.
